Mr. Bates is the owner and founder of The Bates Group of Companies, LLC. The Bates family has been in business in Sonoma County since 1953. Mr. Bates's father and grandfather developed and built Kelly Road, a private 28-mile road which extends from Cloverdale, California to the coast, and subsequently logged over three billion board feet of timber, enough to build every residential unit in San Francisco five times over.
Logging led to construction, and in 1981 Mr. Bates started his own construction and development company. Through the early 1980s The Bates Group of Companies, LLC stayed active in construction by offering equity sharing to their homebuyers and stayed profitable by maintaining low overhead, controlling costs, and executing their work on schedule.
Having built hundreds of homes and developed or mapped over 2,000 residential home sites, Mr. Bates is familiar with the major builders, suppliers, and the marketplace in his market areas.
Mr. Bates is also active in the community. He is a past Director of the Home Builders Association, having served for ten years. He is a past board member of the Sonoma County Arts Council, to which he was appointed by a County Supervisor. Mr. Bates was presented the G.A.I.N. Program’s Most Prized Supporter Award, having given generously of his time to that program. He is married and has three daughters and a young son.

Mr. Jessop’s experience spans seventeen years and began when he worked as a laborer in all scopes of the build process, from demo to final, of a hotel remodel in Kalispell, Montana. David was crew leader for rough carpentry of 189 homes at Kirkland AFB and 500 homes at Nellis AFB, as well as other custom homes and small commercial projects throughout Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and Nevada. After accumulating this construction experience, he worked as a mortgage broker for Eagle Nation Wide Mortgage on new home purchases and VA and FHA refinances, closing 1,320 deals with his team.
Dave continued his construction work as a rough carpentry project manager, safety officer, and coordinator for Corps of Engineers and Federal OSHA on 114 multi-family base housing units at Fort Wainwright and Fort Greeley, Alaska. Multi- and single-family housing projects, hotels, senior communities, low-income housing, and schools in North and South Dakota, North Carolina, Boston, Oklahoma City, Flagstaff, Minneapolis, Salt Lake City, and Edwards AFB gained him experience with bidding, negotiations, and as a project manager. He added concrete foundations and small excavation to his experience as Owner/Operator and Project Manager of single-family and multi-family projects of Type 3 and Type 5 buildings in Flagstaff and Salt Lake City.
Most recently as Owner/Operator and crew lead including bidding and negotiations for rough carpentry, Mr. Jessop has built custom homes, multi-family homes, tract homes and small commercial buildings in Las Vegas and Santa Rosa, California. Currently he is project superintendent on semi-custom home fire rebuilds for American Pacific Builders, Inc. in Santa Rosa, California.
